With its own glass, day (officially 22nd February,  but any day will do) and dozens of stories about the origin, this lime libation is balanced cocktail perfection. With many variations of the original recipe cleverly crafted by bartenders around the world, we wanted to share some of our favourites at HEL’s H.Q.

Classic Margarita

Do not, we repeat, do not use a pre-made margarita mix. It is too sweet and will make your margarita taste like heartburn and regret.

  • 30ml Cointreau or triple sec
  • 30ml Fresh lime juice

Method

  • Wipe the rim of the glass with a lime wedge and dip the glass edge in salt
  • Fill your cocktail shaker with ice
  • Pour all ingredients in and shake it like you mean it
  • Strain into your glass and enjoy!

It is named after his family’s Mexican restaurant in San Francisco, which was set up in 1965 and is still running today (seriously, you have to go if you are ever in the area!). It also stocks one of the largest ranges of 100% agave spirits in the USA. Hello!

  • 15ml Agave syrup

  • There’s no salt on the rim with a Tommy’s
